Copper Mountain College Foundation

Description:

CMCF is the fundraising arm of Copper Mountain Community College District and our mission is to maximize educational opportunities for our students by supporting the programs, facilities and activities of CMC. The mission of Copper Mountain College Foundation is to maximize educational opportunities in the Morongo Basin by supporting the programs, facilities and activities of Copper Mountain Community College District. Originally the Friends of Copper Mountain College, the Foundation was instrumental in building a physical campus in the Morongo Basin. In 1999, Copper Mountain Campus separated from College of the Desert and, through state legislation, formed the new Copper Mountain Community College District. Copper Mountain College obtained its own full accreditation in June 2001, at which time the Friends changed their name to the Copper Mountain College Foundation. Annually the Foundation subsidizes bus transportation for all students through Morongo Basin Transit Authority; students can ride for fifty cents upon showing a valid student ID. The HOWL, our campus literary magazine is printed by the Foundation and more than $100,000 worth of scholarships and book grants are given annually to CMC students through the Foundation. The Foundation manages over $8M in assets which helps to maintain the facilities of Copper Mountain College. The Christine Proudfoot Student Activity Center and Bud & Betty's Place for Veterans have been built with funding recently secured by the Foundation. The Alumni Association is administered by the Foundation. Campus activities including the Cultural Education Enhancement programs, Presidents' Circle, Alumni events, Athletics and community gatherings are also sponsored by Copper Mountain College Foundation.
